Tum na jane
An old Bollywood song, reimagined through a modern guitar quartet.
Tum na jane is an old Bollywood song that became the starting point for a new musical interpretation.
This version was created as a tribute to the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, taking the emotional character of the original song and placing it inside a completely different sonic world.
Working with singer Suhaib Ehsan and the Cologne Guitar Quartet, I created a new arrangement built around four guitars and voice.
I wanted to expand the quartet's sound by incorporating double bass and using the guitarists' voices as a choir.
The goal was not to reproduce the original arrangement, but to take the song somewhere new: keeping its melody and emotional character while creating a contemporary aesthetic around it.
The accompanying video was filmed on the streets of Cologne, bringing an old Bollywood song into the city where this new version was created.
